Sailing at Howard Prairie Lake

Howard Prairie Lake Resort is home to the Rogue Yacht Club.  The resort is located in Southern Oregon, just north of the California state line in Ashland, Oregon.  The resort is just 20 miles east of the Interstate-5 Ashland Exit 14 - a scenic and breathtaking 40 minute drive by car.

The resort is situated in the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range at an elevation of 4,525 feet. Howard Prairie Lake is a reservoir formed by waters fed from mountain snow runoff and the Little Butte Creek.  It has a surface area of nearly 2,000 acres for recreational and sport boating with dependable weather conditions ideal as a sailing venue.  For more information on the winds see our sailing conditions page.

Jackson County Parks operates Howard Prairie Lake Resort and will soon be home to one of the largest new inland marinas in the Pacific Northwest.  The marina is currently under construction and you can find out more about it here.   The marina will be open from sunrise to sunset and offers rental for dock slips as well as moorings.  A day use dock, boat ramp and boat trailer storage area is offered for a nominal vehicle fee per day.

 

Adjacent to the marina is the restaurant and general store.  The restaurant offers full service dining for breakfast through to dinner. The store stocks a variety of beverages, snacks, condiments, ice and other items for boaters and campers.
